The Offspring (englisch etwa Nachkomme, Ableger) ist eine US-amerikanische Punkband aus Orange County in Kalifornien. Bandgeschichte 1984 beschlossen Bryan Holland ("Dexter") und Greg Kriesel nach einem Konzert von Social Distortion in Orange County/Kalifornien selbst eine Band zu gründen. Sie nannten die Band Manic Subsidal. Kevin Wasserman ("Noodles") stieg als Gitarrist ein, eigentlich aber nur, da er durch seine Volljährigkeit die Möglichkeit besaß, legal Alkohol zu erwerben.
