Sting, CBE (* 2. Oktober 1951 in Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne, England, als Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner) ist ein britischer Rock-Musiker. Leben vor dem Ruhm Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner wurde als Sohn eines Milchmanns in Wallsend, einem Vorort von Newcastle upon Tyne, geboren. Von 1971 bis 1974 ließ er sich am Northern Counties Teacher Training College zum Lehrer für Englisch und Musik ausbilden.
